Vijayalaxmi ties for 2nd place - kalamaria open, Greece

IM vijayalaxmi tied for 2nd place (7/9) in kalamaria international open in greece. This time too it seems that she missed her GM norm by whisker. Last week she tied for 1st place in international open chess tournament at athens, greece. She scored 7.5/9. She couldn't get a GM norm because of less number of GM's she faced.

Ganguly wins Arjun Award

GM Ganguly won arjun award for 2005 ahead of Harikrishna. May be they thought hari is young and time is on his side. Surprisingly nobody in chess was given arjuna award in 2004.

Anand wins Mainz Chess Classic 2006

As usual Anand has won Mainz Chess Classic 2006 rapid match against Radjabov by 5-3 score. This is his sixth win here.

Harikrishna wins rapid match against Naditsch

Harikrishna came back strongly by winning 4 consecutive games to finish with 4.5-3.5 over German GM Naditsch and won under 20 rapid championship in Mainz classic.

Vijayalaxmi has earned her second GM norm from kavla international chess tournament in Greece. She finished with 6.5/9 and defeated 3 GMs on the way.
